Layers upon Layers

I have been wearing slippers, a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, and a fleece (that is a total of three layers!) inside my home for six months now. I AM DONE.

Easter and Such

The Easter weekend brought the following to our house:

1. A new dishwasher. I actually really hate the thing! But the dishes are clean and I'll learn to love it eventually.

2. A sub-zero Easter egg hunt at the church for Sam and Alex. Spencer opted to go with Ben to pick-up the aerator instead.

3. A new calling for Ben to the Stake High Council...leaving me without my pew policeman. Darn.

4. A treasure hunt for the boys that ended with a trampoline surprise! (Should be here in about a week...I put a picture of it in an egg.)

5. Easter dinner and egg hunt at Tim and Stacey's. We love them.

And now it's Monday. I need to do the following this morning: get my lazy bum on the treadmill, wash the inside windows, laundry, and figure out what the dinner plan is. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can...

Home Improvement

We installed a new dishwasher last night. This dishwasher process has taken us to home improvement stores a few times in the past week. So...after the boys returned from a freezing easter egg hunt this morning they began playing "Lowes". Alex was working in kitchen and bath; Sam in electronics and Spencer was in building supplies. I quickly became a customer and the cute Lowe's employees were very interested in meeting all of my home improvement needs. I rattled off a few items I was looking for (ie. nozzle, wrench?, paint supplies). I was told that one of my items was out of stock but that Home Depot would probably have it. :)

Shopping Reminder

The boys don't have school today so I had a few extra helpers while grocery shopping this morning. It's been a long time since I've taken all three. Target was busy (Easter weekend!) but I think the whole store could still hear us going up and down each isle! My blood pressure was elevated the whole time. Beautiful experience.

Toilet Water

Just heard the following conversation:

Spencer: Sam, if there wasn't anything else in the world to drink but toilet water would you drink it?
Sam: Yep...prob-ab-ly.
Spencer: Me too.

Here's to hoping things never get that bad...because if they get that bad....I may have to eat the nasty food storage in my basement too. :)

Meat Monster

I have a friend who has a "meatless Monday dinner" each week. That would never fly at our house... especially for Spencer...he is my meat monster. He loves it and his body needs it.

Tuesday To-Do List

On my list of things to accomplish today was to get some recent photos posted to the blog. So I will now check this off of my list! A few notes regarding the importance of these pics ;)

1. I love how sidewalk chalk is like something brand new after months of being in the house. The rain washed away the first days' artwork. This is the second day...they spent hours!
2. Sam is wearing something that fits!!! I purchased him new church clothes and shoes. He wore it all and he looked so handsome!
3. Just a cute pic of Alex playing his computer.

Fast and Slow Sundays

Here's a cute conversation that occurred after church today:

Alex: Dad...why aren't you eating lunch?
Ben: Because it's fast Sunday so I'll eat later.
Alex: My teacher only brings treats on slow Sundays not on fast Sundays.

And this is why I have a blog...don't want to forget such a cute comment.

Tuesday Tidbits

Today was a good day. Nothing spectacular happened but the sun was out; Alex had preschool (which he loves); I made a good dinner (which only 3 out of 5 ate...the bar is low at our house for successful dinners...3 of 5 is great!); the boys did homework right after school (which is a miracle) and then they all played outside with the neighbors (which is heavenly). We all went to Sam's music concert this evening. He wore jeans and was MISERABLE...wouldn't even do the actions on stage for fear of feeling any denim against his legs. But he did it...only a few tears...and he did it. Then we headed to DQ for ice cream with the Vitzthums. It was just a good day.

*The pic of Alex and Will was from yesterday's playdate. They were 'organizing' Alex's school projects all over the floor. Pretty cute.

Vacation Illness

Something is wrong with me. Seriously wrong. I always tease Ben that he wants to live on vacation...but I'm the one dreaming of another one right now! :) Travelocity is my friend and I check flights to wherever frequently. Although I'm dreading the drive to Utah, I'm getting really excited for the adventure!

Conference Weekend

A few pics from conference weekend. Some taken by me and others taken by little boys who were getting bored listening to conference.

Conference weekend is bitter-sweet for me. Sweet because of the opportunity to listen to conference. And the bonus is no choir practice or elder's quorum meetings!

It's bitter because I have to be 'on top of my game' in order for the weekend to be peaceful in our home. For us, peaceful = outside time. It's just the only way it works. Get the boys outside and then bring them in to sit in front of the tv for conference. The weather cooperated and they were able to be outside a lot. It was wonderful!

The Charlesworth clan was over for family dinner last night and the boys had even more fun outside with cousins.

All-in-all a pretty good weekend. (Minus the few moments I was bugged at Ben...but that's another post ;)
