Life Update

I have a confession.  I've thought many times in the past month that I need to post a Life Update.  But almost purposely...have not.  Weird.  I know.  I think it was my fear of only posting bummer (aka negative) thoughts.  Not that my life stinks...it really doesn't!  It's just been a time when I've let things get to me.  Almost like reality and fatigue have finally set it after a year and a half of so many changes and so much keeping my attention.  And...as a bonus this winter was (is!) too long (really...the longest of my life!).   With that being said...here's the latest...the good, bad and the ugly.

1.  Always have to start with the girls.  Claire has slept through the night for 1 week now.  Here's crossing my fingers for a forever pattern!
2.  Alex.  He still loves kindergarten.  His music concert was last week.  He had waited for months for this.  He still draws and colors all of the time.  He can be very helpful with the girls and is generally a good little helper around the house.  I met his friend Izzie at the concert.  I've heard of Izzie since the start of the school year.  I guess if Kindergartners can have crushes than he does.  Seems she does too.  Her mother told me Alex is all she talks about.
3.  Sam.  He is such a funny dude.  Does the minimum required for school work, homework, house chores, showers, and general helpfulness.  (Note...he's always super helpful with the girls...helping with the girls is the favorite 'job' around this house.)  The flyer to sign up for tackle football came this week.  He told me he has been waiting his whole life for this.  He would live on soda pop, donuts and pizza if he could.  Which leads into another thought...
4.  Soda pop.  I hate that stuff.  Always have.  It's just such a waste of calories to me.  Now...that's not to say I don't have other places where those calories can come from.  I am the poster child for someone addicted to sweets.  But I really dislike having it in the home.  I would much rather the boys have a huge bowl of ice cream than pop.  I just think it's a horrible habit to start.  And Ben picks it up when it's on sale.  Ugh!  He loves it and grew up on it.  I hope we don't have to go to counseling over this.
5.  Spencer.  Wishes he was bigger and wishes he could fly in an airplane.  I think those are his focuses in life right now.  His newest venture is looking into playing the drums in the school band.  I've yet to talk with the band director about this but it's on my to-do list.
6.  Ben.  I think he's doing okay.  ???  He has a day off next week to go on Alex's field trip with him so that will be fun for both of them.
7.  My arm/elbow.  I've had what I believe must be tennis elbow since Christmas time.  It's painful.  I can't even hold a gallon of milk without it hurting.  It bothers me when I sleep and I have to move it throughout the night to avoid it hurting more.  I need to have it looked at to see what can be done.  I've read the best thing is resting it.  Um...not really an option.  I chuckle a little because when I carry both the girls I have always carried Grace in my right arm (she's heavy and my right arm is stronger).  So I'm going to blame Grace's chunkiness for all of this damage to my right arm.
8.  Trips.  We've been getting excited for some trip fun.  Black Hills for the boys in June.  NY for me in June.  (I hope!)  Utah the end of July.  A Disney trip within the next year.  And...maybe if Mom will let me fly her out here another time I can convince her to watch the kids for a few days while Ben and I go to NYC.  Just a fun thought I had...haven't even talked with Mom about that!

I guess those are my thoughts for the evening.  Ohhh...I think I'm tired.  I shouldn't have sat down...the worst thing a tired person can do.  I will now just keep standing until everyone is in bed.  ;)
